COMMERCIAL BOOTH INFORMATION

 

We will begin accepting reservations for booth space at the Palo Alto County Fair on June 10, 2014. 

 

The Commercial Exhibits Building will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 17 – 19.

 

Indoor spaces are approximately 8 feet wide and each space has its own electrical outlet.  Exhibitors are responsible for bringing their own tables, chairs, fans, etc.  We will only be using the north commercial exhibits building this year.

 

Outdoor spaces will be allocated based on size of space needed and locations available.

 

The prices are the same as in the past, $35.00 for a one indoor space, $55.00 for two spaces and $75 for three.  Outdoor spaces are $45.00.  Please remit the correct amount according to the size of space you wish to have.  Make checks payable to Palo Alto County Fair and send along with the attached entry blank to:  Palo Alto County Fair, 4664 380th St, Emmetsburg, IA 50536.  Remember, we are on a first come, first served basis beginning June 10, 2014.

 

If you wish to be next to another exhibitor, please indicate that on the booth reservation form.  We will try to accommodate all requests, however, space is limited.

 

Exhibitors will be able to set up any time on Wednesday evening or on Thursday during the day.  The exhibits building will be open on Thursday from 5:00 – 9:00 pm, Friday from 12:00 noon to 9:00 pm, and Saturday from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm. You may take down your exhibit after 7:00 pm on Saturday or anytime on Sunday. 

 

Please complete the entire booth reservation form as this is used to send follow up information and provides the mailing list for next year.  If an e-mail address is provided on the booth reservation form, we will send a confirmation e-mail upon receipt of the form and will e-mail subsequent information.  The schedule of events is now online.

FAIR QUEEN APPLICATION INFORMATION


Thank you for your interest in being a candidate for the Palo Alto County Fair Queen.

 

Candidates for Palo Alto County Fair Queen must at least 16 years old and an active 4-H or FFA member who has exhibited at the Palo Alto County Fair.

 

The application form is available online.  Your application may be submitted on a separate sheet as long as all of the requested information is provided.  Please feel free to add additional pages to the application as needed.  Each judge will get a photocopy of your application, so special paper is not necessary.

 

Scoring is based on the following:  application 20%, appearance 20%, interview 25%, personality/poise 25%, on-stage question 10%. 

 

Please return your application to Devona Perkins, 4664 380th Street, Emmetsburg, Iowa, edevona@yahoo.com or to the extension office.  If e-mailing the application, photos are acceptable in a jpeg format.

 

The queen selection process will include an interview with the judges tentatively scheduled as a breakfast on Thursday, July 17th as well as an on stage question at the fairgrounds.  The exact time of the interviews will be announced after all application forms are received due to the potential for conflicts with the fair schedule.  You will be notified of the time and location of the interview.

 

The on stage question and crowning of the 2014 Palo Alto County Fair Queen will take place at the fairgrounds.  We are planning to introduce the candidates and have the on stage question at 6:45 with the crowning of the queen to occur after the 4-H Share the Fun at approximately 8:00.  The time may be subject to change.

 

Additional information will be sent out to all candidates after the July 1st application deadline.

OPEN CLASS YEAST BREAD CONTEST

 

The Palo Alto County Fair Association and Red Star Yeast are sponsoring an open class yeast product contest at the 2014 Palo Alto County Fair.

 

The yeast contest will consist of three classes:

  • Youth through 12th grade
  • Adult
  • Bread machine breads 

 

Prizes will be awarded in all classes.

 

Entries will be accepted at the 4-H Exhibits Building at the fairgrounds on Saturday, July 19th from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. 

 

All entries must include yeast as an ingredient and must include recipe.

 

 A representative sample will be kept for display.  Contestants may pick up their remaining bread after judging.

CRAFT SHOW BOOTH INFORMATION

 Palo Alto County Fair Craft & Vendor Show

 

The Palo Alto County Fair is introducing a craft & vendor show for Saturday, July 19th.   We welcome all crafters and home based businesses to have a booth.  We can only have one representative of any home based business (Pampered Chef, Scentsy, Avon, etc) and will accept on a first come, first served basis.

 

This will be held in the south commercial building from 9:00 – 2:00.  You may begin to set up your booth at 8:00.

 

The booth spaces are approximately 8 feet wide and each space has its own electrical outlet.  Exhibitors are responsible for bringing their own tables, chairs, fans, etc. 

 

The cost of the booth space is $15.00.  Make checks payable to Palo Alto County Fair and send along with the attached entry blank to:  Brenda Carrigan, 1505 Pleasant, Emmetsburg, IA 50536.  Booth space will be on a first come, first served basis.

 

If you wish to be next to another exhibitor, please indicate that on the booth reservation form.  We will try to accommodate all requests, however, space is limited.

 

The craft show will have separate advertising from the fair.  In order to be included in this advertising, reservations forms must be received by July 9th.

BILL RILEY TALENT SEARCH

 The Palo Alto County Fair is excited to bring back the Bill Riley Talent Search on Saturday, July 19th at 6:00.

 

Competition will be in two divisions:  Sprout - Ages 2-12 and Senior - Ages 13-21.

 

Prizes will be awarded in each division.  $50 for 1st Place, $30 for 2nd Place and $20 for 3rd Place.

Winners in each division will advance to competition at the Iowa State Fair.
